Happy Easter to everyone! Father Dan and his liturgical team led us through a beautiful week as we made the journey of the passion, death and resurrection services of Holy Week and Easter! May we continue to celebrate the risen Lord over the next fifty days during Eastertide until Pentecost Sunday. All are invited and encouraged to come to our Tuesday and Friday all-school liturgies and weekend Masses here at Holy Family.
Auction 2017 Recap – We want to extend a grateful “Thank You!” to all who made our 2017 auction events successful! From the Holiday Raffle to the Mad Hatter’s Ball at Huber’s Plantation Hall to the Silent Auction back on campus, we had great fun and raised money for our budget as well as for new carpeting in the primary wing. Thanks to all who worked, attended, donated or procured items, bought tickets and placed your bids toward great items!
Below is a recap:
- Holiday Raffle – 748 tickets were sold, a new record! Proceeds – $37,400 (less raffle costs.) Lucky $10,000 prize winner was Doug Kraft (Dad of Avery, ’17 and Alex, ’19). Coordinator: Soni O’Bannon – Thank you, Soni!
- Mad Hatter’s Ball – 260 guests had a great time and raised over $50,000 (less costs), including about $8,000 toward Fund-an-Item – new carpeting for K-2 classrooms. Carpeting was installed over Spring Break and looks beautiful! Special thanks to: Malia Glotzbach and Meghan McKnight-Brock, event co-chairs – Nina Portman, reservations – Keri Duncan, décor – Stephanie Case, procurement – Jennifer Kraft, art projects – Tyler Ferree, communications – Brian and Katie Beckort, auctioneers – Carol Goins, finance and planning – Marty Gohmann and Matt Frossard, emcees – 100% Poly, musicians – Debbie Adams and the Huber Orchard/Winery and Distillery staff, event hosts.
- Silent Auction in Marchino Hall – Bringing the silent auction back to school provided a great opportunity to engage parishioners, school parents and even the students in our fundraising event! Coupled with the Chili Supper and Scholastic Book Fair, the Silent Auction was a great “event” as well as raising about $21,000 (less expenses). Beckort Auctions and HFS staff members provided technical support, and online bidding took place over three weeks! A special thanks goes to Stephanie Case and helpers for their work with procurement and setup in Marchino Hall, to Missy Konijeti and Sherry Wilson for the Book Fair, and to Dewayne Stumler and Vida Zoeller for helping with the Chili Supper.
- Auction Non-Uniform Days rounded out the fundraising (about $3,500) and Principal/Teachers for the Day on April 6th added an element of fun for the students, who performed admirably the duties of teachers and principal.
Altogether, our revenues for the combined events above plus donations and dinner reservations totaled over $127,000; expenses to date are at approximately $42,000, for net proceeds of about $85,000. Once again, thanks and congratulations to all on a wonderful year for the auction premiere!
Continue to pray for our students taking the ISTEP+ assessments this week. Note: dismissal ran a little late yesterday due to ISTEP+ testing and could again over the next week or so. Thanks for your patience!
Next week, we congratulate several current Holy Family student groups.
Peace, and a blessed Easter Week to all of you!
