Thanksgiving Greetings – November 22, 2016

Dear Parents,

As we close our doors for the rest of the week, we take pause to be with family and friends, to celebrate with food and festivity, and mostly to give thanks and praise to the Lord.  We have so many blessings; it is remarkable that we live in a time and place when access to the whole world is at our fingertips.  We can do and experience things only dreamed of in past times.   Yet, there is tremendous disparity of wealth, education and opportunity, both within our country and beyond our borders.   May we take time to express our gratitude for the many blessings we have received: life and health, family and friends, income to provide what we need and opportunities for ourselves and our children, and may we have a generous heart.  Please share this Help Me prayer at your Thanksgiving celebration:

Help Me Thanksgiving Day Prayer

O God, when I have food,

Help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work,

Help me to remember the jobless;

When I have a home,

Help me to remember those who have no home at all;

When I am without pain,

Help me to remember those who suffer;

And remembering,

Help me to destroy my complacency;

Bestir my compassion,

And be concerned enough to help,

By word and deed,

Those who cry out for what we take for granted.  Amen.

Happy Thanksgiving to all from the Faculty and Staff of Holy Family School!
