Happy Veterans Day! I want to thank everyone who helped make the Veterans program successful; it was a multi-faceted, team effort! A special thanks to Mr. Schmitt, the Cafeteria ladies, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Lobeck, Mr. Hallal., Mrs. Moss, Mrs. Tomlin and daughter Lauren, Eagle Ambassadors, Mrs. Newcomb, Ms. McGary, choir, musicians, and Fr. Dan! Most importantly, we thank those persons actively serving our country and all our Veterans…
On Saturday, we enjoyed the State volleyball finals in Muncie as the Lady Pioneers finished their sweep through the tournament with a three-set win over Hammond Noll. We are proud of all the Holy Family girls and parents who play for and support the team! Congratulations to Coach (and Parent) Purichia and all!
Please keep in your prayers, Mrs. McCullum, her family and girls, as they mourn the loss of Pauline’s father, Mr. Richard Benich, who died over the weekend. May they find comfort in wonderful memories of their father and grandfather and in the hope of eternal life with Christ.
I spoke with Carolyn LaDuke on Friday; Richard had a good week and continues to make excellent progress with this therapy. Ray Horton (husband of Our Lady of Perpetual Help’s principal, Terry Horton) also continues to improve following his stroke, and he may be going home tomorrow.
Changing Weather – 1) This morning’s frosty windows are but a harbinger of things to come, as an Arctic blast of cold air is scheduled to move in tomorrow night. Please remind students to bundle up and make sure students put coats on before leaving classrooms at the end of day. 2) We are planning a Schoolreach Instant message test on Wednesday. Meantime, should we actually have a delay/weather event by then, we’ll contact by TV news, HFS Website and Schoolreach using the info we have now.
Sock-it-to-me! – Socks are fashionable again and I’m glad – too many years of footies for me… However, I’m seeing all variety of colors… I am working with River City Workwear to come up with a Holy Family sock, but meantime please review with your students the handbook for instructions about socks and other dress-code items.
Boys: Plain navy or all-white crew socks or plain white footies must be worn. Socks are mandatory. Girls: Plain navy or all-white knee socks, crew socks or plain white footies must be worn. Socks should be free of lace, ruffles, or trim of any kind. During the colder weather, navy blue leggings or tights may be worn.
Please note the upcoming meetings/events, all on Wednesday:
- 3-4th Grade Parent Breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
- SchoolReach email / text / voice message tests
- 2nd grade Reconciliation at 7:00 p.m.
Please review the School Calendar for additional activities and events!
Have a great week! Peace, Mr. E
