Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten

Holy Family School & Preschool offers excellent programs that empower your child to thrive spiritually, emotionally, and academically. With preschool, pre-kindergarten, and aftercare, our variety of programs provide developmentally appropriate learning on a schedule that works for you.

Preschool

Age: 3 years old

Develop basic skills for problem solving and decision making while participating in structured learning centers and free play activities, including:

  • Language expression and listening skills are enhanced through circle time, literature and music
  • Science, art, and dramatic play centers allow children to explore, create, and discover
  • Fine motor skills and large motor skills are developed through art, manipulatives and Minds in Motion activities

Pre-Kindergarten

Age: 4 & 5 years old

This program is designed for older 4-year-olds and younger 5-year-olds and provides extended opportunities for problem solving, decision making, memory, comprehension, and creativity.

  • Phonemic Awareness and Phonics are presented as a foundation for emergent readers
  • Language expression and listening skills are emphasized
  • Numeric skills of counting, sorting, and classifying
  • Fine motor skills and large motor skills are developed through art, manipulatives, and Minds in Motion activities

Aftercare:

Holy Family offers flexible aftercare coverage in addition to the morning academic programs. Aftercare is available daily from 3-6pm, 5 days a week. This is an excellent option for working parents who wish to provide a consistent space and routine for their child. Aftercare is $2.00 for every 30 minutes. All parents must have an account in my.smartcare.com. Please contact Mrs. Huber, ahuber@holyfamilyeagles.com if you need to establish an account.

Meet the Teachers

Ms. Karla Coots

Director & Teacher

Ms. Karla has been in education since 1982 and she started the preschool program here at Holy Family in 2006. She has three children that attended a Catholic school from preschool through college! She believes in the importance of Catholic education and the impact it has on the growth and development of children. Ms. Karla is always excited to come to work here at Holy Family! 

Mrs. Sara Raelson

Teacher

Mrs. Raelson has spent much of her life at Holy Family. She is a lifelong parish member and has taken on many roles in our Holy Family family. You may recognize her from her time in Aftercare, Kindergarten classes, as well as her 6 years as our youth minister. Mrs. Raelson has a Bachelor’s degree in Professional Studies and Early Childhood Education. She believes in hands-on, purposeful play, and she loves the natural curiosity that young children possess. She is excited to welcome our littlest Eagles to our Holy Family family and encourage them to grow in faith and to foster that curiosity to develop a lifelong love of learning!

Mrs. Julie Hallal

Teacher

Mrs. Julie has spent much of her life at Holy Family. She is a life-long parish member and began teaching here in 2001. She is a graduate of Holy Family School, along with her husband Jared and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Rebekah. Mrs. Hallal is very excited to be working with our youngest Eagles in Preschool, as well as teaching elementary PE and working across the grade levels as an interventionist.

Miss Meredith Sant

Teacher


Miss. Meredith Sant is in her first year teaching Pre-K. She graduated from the University of Louisville in 2017 and was a Flight Attendant for four years. Her passion for Catholic education brought her to Holy Family and inspired her
to obtain her teaching license. She was a first grade assistant last
school year. She loves her Holy Family family and is thrilled to be
working in early childhood with our little Eagles!
