Holy Family School Branch of One Vision Federal Credit Union

One Vision Federal Credit Union is proud and excited to be a part of the students’ educational experience at Holy Family School. With our school branch program, we strive to teach students the importance of saving money and financial responsibility. Our in-school branches are run by the students – for the students. The “employees” (student workers) learn lifelong lessons about job responsibility and how a financial institution operates.

All students (and even the parents and staff) of Holy Family School are invited to become members of One Vision Federal Credit Union and begin participating in the in-school branch at Holy Family. To participate, the student must have or simply open a savings account with One Vision Federal Credit Union. The minimum balance to open a savings account is only $5.00 and once they have their account, the student may begin making weekly deposits at the school branch. Currently, the branch is open before school on Thursday mornings in the cafeteria.

The minimum deposit at the in-school branch is 25 cents. The student decides how often he/she would like to make a deposit – weekly, monthly, or on special occasions (First Communion, Birthdays, etc.). Each week the student makes a deposit, they are entered into a weekly and monthly prize drawing. The weekly drawing takes place just before the close of the in-school branch on Thursday mornings and the winner receives a small prize of their choice. The monthly drawing takes place the last week of the month and the winner receives a $10 deposit into their savings account. Periodically, we hold special promotions and award special prizes throughout the school year.

There are many other benefits for the students that become members of One Vision Federal Credit Union. We offer our members a Kids’ Club – “Kirby Kangaroo”, and a Teen Club – CU Succeed. Each offers a website that is fun and provides excellent financial tools of the students to read and use. There are links to these sites on our credit union website: www.onevisionfcu.org. The students also receive a quarterly newsletter from the club.

Another terrific benefit for the students is our “Vision Starter” share certificate. This share certificate is designed specifically to help our young members save. The minimum balance in this certificate is $100 and add-ons in $5.00 increments are allowed over the term of the certificate. The share certificates are available in 12 and 24 month terms. This product gives our young members an opportunity to earn higher dividends and to experience the rewards of saving their money.

The goal of the in-school branch program is to help prepare our young people for their financial future. Now, more than ever, financial education is extremely important for our youth. We are always available to talk one on one with the students about saving and any other financial questions they may have. With the in-school branch program and with parents continuing this financial education in the home, our students will be prepared to plan, save, and succeed in their future.
