Awards
The Athletic Board presents the “Eagle Award” to a male and female athlete. Along with the trophy, the student receives a $500 scholarship and their names will be engraved on the plague with past “Eagles”.
EAGLE AWARD ELIGIBILITY: In order for the student to be eligible, the 8th grade student must have achieved the following requirements; the student athlete will participate in at least two sports each year in grades 5 thru 8, while maintaining an average grade of 90% or higher and a B+ or higher in conduct with no failing grades. In addition to these requirements the student will demonstrate athletic ability, sportsmanship, and leadership while, on & off the field and in & out of the classroom. The recipients must exhibit a positive attitude and conduct themselves maturely when interacting with adults, peers, teammates, and opponents.
Selection Process: The candidates are selected, from the eligible list by members of the Athletic Board, Junior High Coaches, PE, Technology, and the 5th – 8th Grade Homeroom Teachers.
FRANK U. ZOELLER AWARD ELIGIBILITY
Head coaches for each sport offered selects an outstanding 8th grade participant who gives 110% effort to the sport, is a team player, and is committed to the sport.
DONALD SPELLMAN AWARD ELIGIBILITY
Head coaches for the boys and girls 7th and 8th grade basketball teams select an outstanding 8th grade participant exhibiting leadership and sportsmanship in the game of basketball.
