With many contagious and non-contagious illnesses traveling from person to person in the Southern Indiana area, our businesses, and our schools, Holy Family School is asking that parents keep students home for a full 24 hours after breaking a fever, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, or other contagious symptom. This will be a good time for them to rest, heal, and come back to school ready to learn, and not to spread sickness to other students, faculty, and staff.
Students complaining of these things to the school office, and then sent home due to these conditions, will be sent home with a note reminding you of our handbook code (section 6.4, below):
6.4 – ATTENDANCE, ABSENCES AND TARDINESS
Regular attendance is essential to a student’s success and cannot be overemphasized. Parents are asked to make every effort to get children to school each day and to have good health and nutrition practices at home. However, if a child is ill with fever (over 100°), nausea,*vomiting, *diarrhea, etc., please do not send him/her to school to suffer and to expose others to the illness. In the case of fever, do not send your child back to school until she/he is fever free for 24 hours after being off fever reducing medicine.
* is added, and included in the “etc.”
Thank you for your help in this. Yesterday, we had our highest number of students out for the 2015-16 school year, and we wish to curb this number so learning can commence at 100% for the rest of the year.
